 INDIANAPOLIS, February 15, 2008: Dealernews, the premier business-to-business magazine for powersports retailers, announced the winners of the 17th Annual Top 100 Awards, the industry’s longest running and most prestigious retail competition, recognizing dealerships for retail design, promotional innovation, and customer service.
Maurice Slaughter, owner of MS Family Enterprises was ecstatic to have all three of his dealerships win big this year. Bayside Harley-Davidson, Outer Banks Harley-Davidson and Kitty Hawk Harley-Davidson all finished in the Top100.
The multiple honors awarded to MS Family Harley-Davidson dealerships is a testament to Maurice Slaughter’s excellent practices in all facets of the motorcycle business.
Bayside Harley-Davidson in Portsmouth, VA, celebrating their 10th year in business, walked away with two high honors in this year’s competition. Bayside Harley-Davidson placed in the Top 10 out of over 17,000 powersports dealers in North America and also took home a special award for “Best Theme”, for the aircraft carrier inspired interior design, which is a tribute to Tidewater’s large Navy presence.
Bayside Harley-Davidson with its magnificent 36, 000 square foot showroom and huge motorcycle inventory, is one of the largest dealerships in the area. Bayside is the only dealership in Tidewater and Eastern North Carolina that is both an authorized rental and on-site motorcycle safety training center. The outside seven-story tower, the world’s tallest Harley-Davidson motorcycle display tower, beckons to motorists traveling on the interstate.
Kitty Hawk Harley-Davidson in Harbinger, NC, the newest MS Family Dealership, also finished in the Top 10, an astonishing accomplishment for a Harley-Davidson dealership that has been around for less than 2 years. Kitty Hawk Harley-Davidson located 2 miles north of the Wright Memorial Bridge, the gateway to the Outer Banks, is a favorite stop for both tourists and locals. Kitty Hawk Harley-Davidson has a full display of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, plus trademark clothing and gifts, parts and accessories, a state of the art service department and is an authorized Harley-Davidson Rental Center. The interior design celebrates 1903, the year the first Harley-Davidson was built and the very beginnings of aviation. Large models of The Wright Brothers first bi-planes hang from the showroom ceiling.
Outer Banks Harley-Davidson in Elizabeth City, NC placed in the Top 100. The pirate themed interior of Outer Bank Harley-Davidson was recognized by Dealernews the previous two years as “Best Theme”. Outer Banks Harley-Davidson located on Route 17, known as the riders highway, has a down home southern hospitality feel and the customer service that goes with a country store atmosphere. Outer Banks Harley-Davidson is only an hour’s ride from anywhere in Hampton Roads. Riders enjoy the scenic country roads around the Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, that lead to the dealership.
Maurice Slaughter’s investment in facilities, people and higher standards has also been recognized by Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Slaughter’s dealerships have won 10 Bar & Shield awards over the years and all three were awarded the prestigious Bar & Shield award again this year.
Bayside Harley-Davidson was also selected from over 800 dealerships in the country to be one of the 105 starting points for the ride to Milwaukee for the 105th Harley-Davidson Anniversary Celebration in August.
